On September 21, 2024, he was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court and began his term on September 27.
The Supreme Court Collegium had previously recommended transferring Justice MM Srivastava, the current Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, to the Madras High Court, with Justice K.R. Shriram taking over in Rajasthan.
These transitions were officially communicated on Monday. In another noteworthy change, Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma has been reassigned from the Punjab and Haryana High Court back to the Rajasthan High Court, marking his return after more than three and a half years.
Justice Sharma was first appointed to the Rajasthan High Court on November 16, 2016, from the advocate quota. He was later transferred to the Patna High Court on January 1, 2022, and then to the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2023.
His transfer back to Rajasthan has been finalized, with his retirement scheduled for September 26, 2026.
Additionally, two current judges of the Rajasthan High Court — Justice Srichandrashekhar and Justice Arun Moga — have also been reassigned. Justice Srichandrashekhar is moving to the Bombay High Court, while Justice Arun Moga is going to the Delhi High Court. These changes were also based on recommendations from the Supreme Court Collegium.
