Bhopal, July 17 (NationPress) Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva is set to take his oath as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court today at Raj Bhavan. According to official sources, the ceremony will be held at the Sandipani Auditorium at 10 a.m. and will be administered by Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel.
A number of senior judges from all three divisional benches of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, along with district court judges and state government ministers, are expected to attend this significant event.
Justice Sachdeva's appointment as Chief Justice was confirmed by President Droupadi Murmu on Monday, making him the 29th Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh.
He previously held the position of Acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court from July 9, 2024, to September 24, 2024, and again on May 24, 2025.
Born on December 26, 1964, in Delhi, Justice Sachdeva earned his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, in 1985, followed by a law degree from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University, in 1988.
He registered as an advocate with the Delhi Bar Council on August 1, 1988.
In 1992, he took part in the Commonwealth Young Lawyers Course at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London, collaborating with solicitors and barristers in England.
By 1995, he was designated as an Advocate on Record at the Supreme Court of India. Earlier in 1992, he was awarded a British Council scholarship, representing India among five young lawyers in the Commonwealth Young Lawyers Course.
On April 17, 2013, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court, becoming a Permanent Judge on March 18, 2015.
He has served as the Standing Counsel for the Bar Council of India at both the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court for over two decades.
