'Bihar's Transformation Leader': Discontent in Kalyan Bigha Over Nitish Kumar's Rajya Sabha Move
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Nalanda, March 6 (NationPress) The recent move by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to transition to the Rajya Sabha has sparked disappointment among the residents of his hometown, Kalyan Bigha in Nalanda district. On Friday, villagers voiced their dismay about this change, expressing hopes for him to continue his leadership as Chief Minister. Some community members suggested that his son, Nishant Kumar, should take up his political mantle.
In conversations with IANS, numerous villagers recognized Nitish Kumar’s vital role in Bihar’s development, crediting his leadership with significant transformation in the state.
Ajay Patel, a local resident, shared, “This news makes us very sad. We wanted him to stay in Bihar, as he is the one who has transformed it from ‘Jungle Raj’ to ‘Swarg Raj’. We felt pride having him as our Chief Minister. He was like ‘Ram’ to us, and we were his ‘Hanuman’. I doubt anyone else can achieve what he has. Everyone here appreciates his contributions. I am also his neighbor.”
Another villager, Sujit, expressed a similar sentiment, suggesting that the decision might not be entirely his own.
“We are unhappy about this. It appears this wasn’t his decision; perhaps the BJP pressured him into it. He has always wanted to stay in Bihar. We support him, but we cannot align with the BJP. We hope Nishant Kumar can take on the Chief Minister role, but not under BJP’s banner,” he stated.
Sujit further remarked on Nitish Kumar's impactful initiatives for the state, including the establishment of schools and colleges. “There are still some unfinished projects, and we trust that Nishant Kumar will address them. However, if a BJP member becomes Chief Minister, I believe Samrat Choudhary could be a suitable choice. I wish Nitish Kumar would remain in his position; he is perfectly fine,” he added.
Om Prakash, another local, voiced his disappointment as well.
“This decision is unfortunate. We elected him as our Chief Minister, not for a Rajya Sabha seat. It seems like everything is happening under BJP’s influence. I wanted him to serve another five years, given his work in hospitals, schools, and overall state upliftment,” he stated.
Nathu Paswan resonated with these thoughts, wishing Nitish Kumar had continued as Chief Minister.
“He has significantly contributed to both our village and the state. We wanted him to retain his position as CM,” he remarked.
Conversely, another resident believed that this might have been Nitish Kumar’s own decision.
“It is his choice, and I don’t see it as being compelled by the BJP. However, we wanted him to persist in his Chief Minister role. I think Nishant Kumar should now step into that position,” the villager concluded.
