New Delhi, July 26 (NationPress) Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on Saturday honored the valiant soldiers who gave their lives for the nation during the 1999 Kargil War.
While extending his wishes to the Indian Armed Forces, veterans, and their families on Kargil Vijay Diwas, General Chauhan stated that the unyielding bravery of these fallen heroes will persist as a source of inspiration for future generations and as a beacon of hope for our forces.
He expressed, "We remember with profound respect the brave souls who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. Their unyielding bravery will continue to motivate future generations and will serve as a beacon of guidance for our Armed Forces and the youth of the nation. Their supreme sacrifice is etched in our memory forever."
He emphasized that Kargil Vijay Diwas serves as a reminder to every Indian of the unmatched bravery, determination, and patriotism exhibited by the courageous Indian soldiers who fought valiantly to protect the nation's territorial integrity during the conflict.
Additionally, he noted that this occasion is a reminder of the harsh reality of Pakistan's betrayal, as its Army played a role in escalating the conflict by deploying regular troops disguised as 'Mujahideen'.
"The enemy, having secured higher mountain peaks and fortified positions, had a clear advantage along with the element of surprise," he recounted, reflecting on the challenges faced during the Kargil War.
"Our forces battled against overwhelming odds, scaling nearly vertical cliffs under heavy enemy fire in extreme weather conditions at staggering altitudes and yet, emerged victorious. This operation is a testament to the exemplary leadership of young officers who bravely led their troops to triumph against unprecedented dangers," General Chauhan stated.
Praising Operation Sindoor, he remarked that despite ongoing challenges to India's resolve, the legacy of Kargil will continually remind citizens that India’s jointness, preparedness, and unwavering courage—as proven once more by the success of Op Sindoor—will always prevail over the enemy’s deceit and aggression.
The CDS emphasized that Kargil Vijay Diwas is not just about commemorating the past; it serves as a call to inspire future generations.
"Let the legacy of our heroes serve as a reminder to every citizen of their duty to serve our motherland with the utmost dedication and national pride," he concluded.
