Karnataka BJP Challenges Kharge: Will You Seek Forgiveness for Ambedkar's Injustices?

Bengaluru, Dec 26 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP faction on Thursday confronted Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, asking if he is prepared to seek forgiveness for the injustices inflicted upon Ambedkar by the grand old party.

During a press conference held at the party headquarters in Bengaluru, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, posed the question, "Mallikarjun Kharge, as the Congress President, will you have the courage to ask for forgiveness regarding the injustices done to Ambedkar by the Congress?"

"You (Kharge) currently hold the position of Congress President, yet you seem powerless. You mentioned on the legislative floor that only Sonia Gandhi has the ability to influence you, no one else. Why did you accept the role of Congress President? Do Dalits deserve such subjugation? This is my inquiry. Can you once ask why B.R. Ambedkar was never awarded the Bharat Ratna by the Congress party? You shy away from questioning this. You seem content with the power you desired and obtained within the party," Narayanaswamy stated.

"Union Home Minister Amit Shah has disrespected the Congress, not Ambedkar. I wish to question Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. I hold respect for him; he was commendable during his tenure in Karnataka. Now, he appears to be a puppet. Are you capable of seeking forgiveness as Congress President for the injustices committed against Ambedkar by the Congress party?" he reiterated.

Narayanaswamy also mentioned, "Ambedkar was never affiliated with the Congress. The party opposed his principles from the days of the roundtable conference until his passing. During the formation of the interim government, it was not a single-party government; figures like Ambedkar and Syama Prasad Mukherjee were included," he noted.

"Ambedkar made significant contributions, so why did he have to resign? The then Prime Minister, the late Jawahar Lal Nehru, could not tolerate him. After the Constitution was established, Ambedkar's responsibilities diminished. He envisioned economic policies and expressed a desire to oversee the Finance and Planning departments, but Nehru disagreed and refused," the BJP leader added.

"Ambedkar campaigned for women's voting rights. He attempted to introduce the Hindu Code Bill, which was met with opposition from the Congress. In light of this, Ambedkar exited the Congress. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Reserve Bank of India, not Jawahar Lal Nehru," Narayanaswamy emphasized.

"I wish to ask Congress leaders about the whereabouts of Ambedkar's resignation letter. It should be preserved in Rashtrapati Bhavan. Is it there? It is not available. This is because Ambedkar unveiled the Congress's shortcomings, leading to its downfall. Ambedkar's 40-minute address in Parliament exposed the Congress, and it is documented," he asserted.

"Union Minister Amit Shah merely highlighted that the Congress party, which has belittled Ambedkar for years, has now adopted his name for electoral leverage," he commented, targeting the Congress-led state government.

"The Congress is orchestrating sponsored protests nationwide. When Ambedkar introduced the Constitution, the BJP did not exist. The BJP was founded to uphold Ambedkar's ideology," Narayanaswamy further stated.

"What became of Jagjivan Ram, a senior Congress leader? He departed from Congress and formed his own party. What happened to Sardar Patel? It is the BJP that honored him, not the Congress. V.P. Singh had to leave the Congress to become Prime Minister. What transpired with former Prime Minister, the late Lal Bahadur Shastri?... Sitaram Kesari, Pranab Mukherjee? Only the Gandhi family remains tolerated in the Congress," he concluded.

State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra remarked, "The Congress has consistently seized every opportunity to demean Ambedkar. From the era of Jawahar Lal Nehru to the present day, the Congress has never shown him the respect he deserves. Narayan Sadoba Kajrolkar, Ambedkar's personal assistant, was positioned to contest elections against him. The Congress defeated Ambedkar in the Lok Sabha elections and even awarded Padma Bhushan to Kajrolkar."

"Jogendra Nath Mandal, a close associate of Ambedkar, vacated his constituency in West Bengal for him. Yet, the cunning Congress plotted, and the area represented by Ambedkar was allocated to what was then East Pakistan. Ambedkar clearly stated that the Congress is a burning house, and there is no future for Scheduled Castes within the party," Vijayendra emphasized.

"Union Minister Amit Shah has exposed the Congress. The Congress is attempting to mislead the citizenry, and they will not succeed," he added.
