Bengaluru, Aug 10 (NationPress) The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Karnataka, V. Anbukumar, has formally requested Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to submit pertinent documents that substantiate his allegations of 'vote fraud'.
The CEO emphasized that the documents presented by Rahul Gandhi during his press conference on August 8 were not recognized as official.
The notice directed to Rahul Gandhi read, "In your press conference, you have asserted that the documents displayed in your presentation are sourced from the Election Commission of India (ECI). You claimed: 'This is EC data'. You also mentioned that according to the records provided by the polling officer, Smt. Shakun Rani has allegedly voted twice. You stated; 'Es ID card per do baar vote laga hai, wo jo tick hai, polling booth ke officer ki hai'." (Two votes are recorded for this Voter ID card. The tick is made by the polling officer).
"Upon investigation, Smt. Shakun Rani has clarified that she has voted only once, not twice, as you alleged," the CEO noted.
"Hence, we kindly request you to present the relevant documents that led you to conclude that Smt. Shakun Rani or anyone else has voted twice, enabling our office to initiate a thorough inquiry," the CEO added.
Speaking to a large audience at the 'Our Vote, Our Right, Our Fight' rally against supposed electoral fraud, Rahul Gandhi called for the Election Commission of India (ECI) to release the electronic voters' list for the last decade, along with video recordings.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that if the ECI is 'withholding' data, it suggests 'collusion' with the BJP in executing 'electoral fraud'.
"The Election Commission must recognize that even if you fail to provide the data, we can still reveal irregularities across 15 to 20 Lok Sabha seats. We already possess the data. You cannot conceal and evade responsibility. One day, you will have to confront the opposition. Each officer and the Commission must be conscious of this," he cautioned.
Rahul Gandhi stated, "If you (ECI) undermine the 'One Man, One Vote' principle enshrined in the Indian Constitution, we will retaliate against you."
