Bengaluru, April 2 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had a meeting with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday, where he presented a memorandum seeking approval for several infrastructure projects designed to boost the state's social and economic development.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Nitin Gadkari for his support in the expansion of the National Highway network within Karnataka.

Given the significant traffic on state highways (with more than 10,000 Passenger Car Units per day), the Karnataka government has called on the Union Minister to endorse the following initiatives for the state's advancement: construction of nine grade separators on NH-275 in Mysuru to alleviate traffic issues.

Additionally, the development of a tunnel on NH-75 (previously known as NH-48) from Maranahalli to Addahole in Shiradi Ghat is proposed to enhance connectivity between Mangaluru Port (India’s 7th largest port) and Bengaluru.

Further requests include expedited approval for the Pune-Bengaluru Greenfield Expressway; an increase in the budget for National Highway projects in the 2025-26 annual plan from Rs 24,000 crore; and the construction of a flyover at Hebbal Junction on NH-44 in Bengaluru.

The Chief Minister has urged for the upgrading of strategically significant roads to National Highways as a priority, alongside the construction of tunnels to enhance connectivity between Mysuru Road (NH-275), Hosur Road (NH-48 and NH-75 via Electronic City), Tumakuru Road (NH-48), Ballari Road (NH-44), and Old Madras Road (formerly NH-4) in Bengaluru and surrounding areas.

During the meeting, Siddaramaiah appealed to Nitin Gadkari to consider these proposals and instruct the relevant authorities to give them the green light.

He also mentioned the essential projects that have received approval from the central government for the state. CM Siddaramaiah assured Nitin Gadkari that the Karnataka government is dedicated to improving National Highway connectivity throughout the state.

The departments of revenue and forest are fast-tracking land acquisition and clearance processes, while other agencies are facilitating utility relocations for the swift implementation of National Highway projects.

During his trip to Delhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also inaugurated the newly built Karnataka Bhavan-1 building with the presence of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.

The inauguration was attended by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, along with Ministers Satish Jarkiholi, H.C. Mahadevappa, K.N Rajanna, K.H. Muniyappa, and other dignitaries.
