Mandya, July 28 (NationPress) The government of Karnataka has initiated development projects totaling Rs 1,146 crore in the heartland of the Vokkaliga community, specifically in Mandya district, on Monday.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar participated in the event, emphasizing unity among party workers.

During the inauguration of various initiatives and the laying of foundation stones in the Maddur Assembly constituency, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remarked, "In just one day, we have unveiled development projects worth Rs 1,146 crore. This demonstrates our government’s response and challenges the BJP's claims of inadequate funding for development."

He mentioned that the Cauvery Neeravari Nigam has successfully completed development tasks worth Rs 560 crore within a span of two years.

“Let the BJP showcase its contributions to Maddur during its four years in governance. We cleared the overdue electricity payments of the Mandya Sugar Factory and allocated Rs 52 crore for its revival. In response to the Milk Producers’ Federation, we provided a subsidy of Rs 5 per liter for milk producers. Additionally, we have allocated Rs 10 crore to the Mandya Sugar Factory and established the Mandya Agricultural University with the necessary funding. This showcases the dedication of the Congress party and our administration,” he emphasized.

Siddaramaiah also highlighted that the five guarantee schemes executed by the government have enhanced the purchasing power of the populace and fortified the state’s economy.

“Consequently, Karnataka now holds the top position in per capita income across the nation,” he asserted.

While announcing the approval for a 100-foot road project in Mandya city, Siddaramaiah acknowledged MLA Uday for his request.

He praised MLA Uday, stating, “He speaks less and accomplishes more.”

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, addressing the audience, stated: “The seven constituencies of Mandya are equally important to me as Kanakapura (my hometown). To express our gratitude to the voters of this Maddur constituency, we have laid the groundwork for development projects worth Rs 1,146 crore. We have not come here today to seek accolades. You elected our candidate, Uday, and supported the Congress in 6 out of 7 seats in this district. Through your support, you helped us form a vigorous government with 136 MLAs in the state. We are here today to show our appreciation and repay that commitment.”

“I am establishing an Irrigation Department office here. We have allocated over Rs 500 crore to bring water to Malavalli and improve the canals of Maddur. Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy is also focused on establishing an agricultural university for the benefit of farmers' children,” he added.

Various developmental initiatives have been undertaken across all seven constituencies in the district.

“The Congress formed the government because we secured the most seats in this district,” he reiterated.

He mentioned that Siddaramaiah has presented a budget of Rs 4.08 lakh crore, with Rs 52,000 crore allocated for guarantee schemes, Rs 19,000 crore for providing free electricity to farmers’ pump sets, and Rs 25,000 crore distributed to the public through social welfare and other departments.

“Approximately Rs 10,900 crore is allocated for pensions. In total, Rs 1 lakh crore from the budget is directly benefiting the citizens,” Shivakumar stated.

“You should question the BJP - did they implement any people-friendly schemes during their tenure? Did they assist the citizens in distress? They failed to do so, which is why they have lost their moral authority to criticize us. Achievements are not mere coincidences; they require diligent effort. Our Congress government is transforming lives through various programs,” he concluded.
