Bengaluru, April 26 (NationPress) R. Ashoka, the Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka, stated on Saturday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should issue an apology regarding his statements on the Pahalgam terror attack, asserting that his attitude of “prioritising” votes is both disgraceful and unacceptable.

“Similar to how civilians celebrating in Israel were targeted, terrorists in Kashmir have also taken the lives of Hindus. Only Siddaramaiah can grant forgiveness for such heinous acts. His indifference to national concerns in pursuit of votes is shameful. He is devoid of principles, solely focused on maintaining power,” he expressed while addressing media representatives in Bengaluru.

He emphasized that while protests are being held nationwide, Siddaramaiah has remarked that lost lives cannot be restored.

“Had such a tragedy affected his family, he would not have made such insensitive comments. His remarks, followed by visits to the families of victims, adorned with garlands, highlight his lack of empathy,” he stated.

He also pointed out that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has expressed support for the Union government's decisions, yet Siddaramaiah contradicts his party's stance.

“In Bhatkal, there are about a dozen Pakistani nationals. Despite the Union government's directives for their deportation, the state government has taken no action. In Kalaburagi, when a Pakistani flag was displayed on the road, Muslim women promptly removed it. There are threats within our country that require attention. Activists from Hindu organizations who criticized Pakistan have been detained, revealing Congress's true nature,” he alleged.

He further insisted that Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals residing in the state should be expelled.

“Thanks to the efforts of Indian soldiers and intelligence agencies, Labour Minister Santosh Lad, who went to Kashmir to coordinate with the families of victims, is safe. The government in J&K is allied with Congress, and they should scrutinize the government. Congress leaders need to learn appropriate conduct during national crises,” he added.

Responding to discussions about declaring war on Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, Siddaramaiah stated, “There is no need for a war against Pakistan. We must implement stringent security measures. We are not in favor of warfare. Peace is essential, and the Central government should ensure robust security arrangements.”

Meanwhile, MP and BJP Yuva Morcha National President Tejasvi Surya led a Mashal Rally on Saturday from Lalbagh West Gate to honor the victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

Thousands of citizens participated in the rally to voice their collective sorrow and strong condemnation of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.

During his speech, Tejasvi Surya urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s government to enhance the ex gratia compensation of Rs 10 lakh announced for the families of the terror attack victims, stressing that the survivors are single mothers in need of assistance until their children complete higher education.

He personally pledged to support the families of both victims from Karnataka, as a gesture of solidarity during this challenging period.

“Bengaluru South stands united with the families of the victims and the nation during this time of grief. The spirit of Bengaluru South is commendable. Terrorism will not weaken our determination. Under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nation remains steadfast. A salute to the brave souls,” he asserted.

Participating in a Mashal rally organized by BJP Bengaluru South, he joined thousands of citizens from Lalbagh West Gate in memory of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.

“This overwhelming turnout reflects the public's anger against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and their solidarity with innocent victims,” he remarked.

He concluded by stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon issue a decisive response to those responsible for the cowardly killings.
