Karnataka: Virat Kohli's One8 Commune Faces Fire Safety Violations Notice from Civic Authorities

Bengaluru, Dec 21 (NationPress) The civic authority Bengaluru Bruhat Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued a notification to cricketer Virat Kohli's establishment One8 Commune concerning supposed fire safety breaches.
This venue, situated on the sixth floor of Ratnam's Complex on the prestigious M. G. Road close to the Chinnaswamy International Cricket Stadium, is reported to be operating without a no objection certificate from the Fire Department.
A notice was previously issued on November 29 following complaints from social activists H. M. Venkatesh and Kunigal Narasimhamurthy. However, no response has been received as of yet.
The BBMP has now provided a seven-day ultimatum; if no clarification is given, legal action will be taken against the aforementioned pub, as stated in the notice from the Health Officer of the Shanthinagar Division of the BBMP.
Complainant Venkatesh remarked, "Numerous eateries, bars, and pubs in high-rise structures throughout Bengaluru are operating without adequate fire safety measures. Previous fire incidents in the city have resulted in substantial casualties and injuries. For example, during the Carlton Towers fire triggered by a short circuit, individuals leaped from the building to escape the flames."
"To avert such tragedies, the BBMP and the Fire Department have conducted inspections. They discovered several buildings lacking proper fire safety protocols and established regulations stating that licenses should not be issued to such locations, nor should operations be allowed there," Venkatesh insisted.
"In spite of these regulations, violations persist. Likewise, a restaurant in a high-rise at Ratna Complex on MG Road is devoid of fire safety measures. We have highlighted this concern and alerted the BBMP by lodging a complaint. As a result, they have issued a notice. It remains to be seen how vigilant the BBMP and the Fire Department will be in enforcing safety and implementing these measures effectively," he asserted.
Earlier, in July, an FIR was filed against One8 Commune for operating beyond the 1 a.m. cutoff. The FIR indicated that the establishment was still open and serving patrons at 1:20 a.m., surpassing the allowable time limit.
