Bengaluru, May 8 (NationPress) Colonel Sofiya Qureshi has become a household name in Karnataka, as her in-laws are basking in the joy of her newfound fame following her media address on 'Operation Sindoor'.
Colonel Qureshi is married to Colonel Tajuddin Bagewadi, hailing from Konnur village near Gokak in the Belagavi district of Karnataka.
Residents from nearby areas have been visiting her in-laws' home to extend their congratulations.
Her in-laws expressed their pride, stating that whenever Sofiya returns to the village, she embraces a simple, traditional lifestyle like any other devoted Muslim woman.
Ghouse Saab Babu Saab Bagewadi, her father-in-law, shared his overwhelming pride, saying, "I am elated that my daughter-in-law and my son are both serving our nation. They are both colonels, and we take immense pride in that. Ever since Sofiya appeared on television, my family hasn’t let me sleep, constantly calling to offer their congratulations."
"Although our formal education is limited," he continued, "seeing my daughter-in-law receive such acclaim brings me immense happiness."
"Watching Sofiya Qureshi provide updates on Operation Sindoor was truly moving. My son comes home once every six months, and Sofiya visits us once a year. No matter her status, she remains humble and is one of us during her visits," Ghouse added.
"While the possibility of conflict exists, I am not concerned for their safety. They are dedicated to serving our country. I have another son who works with the Fire and Emergency Services, and I've instructed him to volunteer if war arises. I took nine years after marriage to have children, and I am immensely proud of Sofiya Qureshi," he stated.
"Their arranged marriage took place in 2015 in Vadodara, Gujarat, and both have achieved remarkable success in their careers," he noted.
"Sofiya Qureshi has brought great honor to our family. Both my son and daughter-in-law have promised to come home together for Bakrid. The villagers have shown us tremendous respect, showering us with flowers and well-wishes. I was unaware of her media briefing on Wednesday due to being out, but upon my return, my joy knew no bounds," Ghouse shared.
"I haven't been able to speak with Sofiya yet; my son informed me she is in Delhi for meetings," he said.
On the topic of Pakistan's attempts to sow discord, Ghouse remarked, "We have no differences among us. Whatever Pakistan tries will only lead to their own downfall. They lack honor; they strike from the shadows. In contrast, we Indian Muslims confront our challenges head-on, earning respect. If our women are this resilient, imagine the strength of our men. We stand united, identifying solely as Hindustani. Those who promote division will find themselves isolated."
"I participate in all Hindu religious events. A Lingayat swami even contributed Rs 2 lakh for our Urs festival, arranging food and sweets for the community. We recognize no caste or religious distinctions; we are united. This mindset is essential, and Allah will bless us for it," he concluded.
Across social media, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi is being celebrated as a proud daughter-in-law of Karnataka.
As a third-generation Indian Army officer, she is currently stationed in Jammu, while her husband, Colonel Tajuddin Bagewadi, is based in Jhansi.
