Srinagar, March 6 (NationPress) Following a peaceful day across the Kashmir Valley on Friday, local authorities have announced that normal conditions will be reinstated, with all restrictions being removed starting Saturday.

Congregational prayers on Friday took place without incident in all districts, including the city of Srinagar.

After a high-level security review meeting on Friday evening, credible sources informed IANS that the restrictions will be lifted from the Valley on Saturday.

"High-speed internet services will be completely restored by this evening. Prepaid mobile services will also resume normal operations," the sources noted.

Additionally, all forms of public and private transportation will be permitted to operate in the Valley beginning Saturday morning.

Authorities emphasized that the restrictions were precautionary measures aimed at preventing miscreants and anti-social elements from taking advantage of the public's sentiments.

However, they also mentioned that security forces will maintain their standard deployment to ensure law and order, keeping a vigilant eye on the circumstances.

The restrictions were put in place on March 1 following the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Clashes had occurred in numerous locations, particularly in areas with a majority Shia Muslim population in Srinagar and beyond.

Throughout the clashes, police and security forces exercised restraint to prevent any loss of civilian life and property.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, engaged with civil society members in Srinagar on Wednesday.

He urged the public to express their sorrow regarding the events in Iran in a disciplined and dignified manner, avoiding actions that could lead to unrest.

The Chief Minister received a favorable response from civil society members, including representatives from religious, social, and business communities, as well as other notable citizens.

Point of View

The lifting of restrictions in Kashmir signals a hopeful return to stability in the region. While precautionary measures were necessary, the focus now shifts to maintaining peace and ensuring that the community can express itself freely and safely.
