Vadodara, Dec 29 (NationPress) The Vadodara division of Western Railway has officially launched Kavach 4.0, India's homegrown automatic train protection system, along the Bajwa-Ahmedabad route, enhancing all locomotives with cutting-edge safety features.
This advanced system is designed to prevent over-speeding, automatically stop trains at red signals, and significantly reduce the risk of collisions with other trains.
Highlighting the safety enhancements, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Raju Bhadke described it as a major advancement in passenger safety, noting that the premium Vande Bharat trains are being upgraded to include the latest version of Kavach 4.0.
In an interview with IANS, the DRM emphasized that Western Railways is dedicated to ensuring passengers' safety during travel, while also pursuing the development of innovative technologies to improve their experience.
“The implementation of 'Kavach 4.0 ATP (Advanced Protection System) between Bajwa and Ahmedabad marks a significant milestone for safe passenger travel,” he stated.
Bhadke further explained that this new system is crucial for preventing both trains and passengers from potential collision hazards.
“This version of 'Kavach 4.0' is the most sophisticated yet. We plan to roll out this technology across all types of trains in the near future, ensuring that passengers enjoy a secure journey,” he added, outlining the Railways' commitment to adopting modern technology for absolute safety.
Importantly, Kavach 4.0 is an indigenously developed upgrade of India’s Automatic Train Protection system, aimed at averting collisions and maintaining speed limits. This enhanced safety feature automatically applies brakes if the loco pilot does not respond, ensuring safe operations even in poor visibility or extreme weather.
The Railways has expedited the deployment of Kavach 4.0, with commissioning currently underway across 738 route kilometers on the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah corridors.
