New Delhi, Jan 26 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday after the former Delhi chief minister voiced his surprise regarding the Election Commission's decision to withdraw the Punjab Police from the national capital and replace them with Gujarat Police.

Kejriwal took to X to share a copy of the order, stating: "Read this order from Gujarat Police. The Election Commission has removed Punjab Police from Delhi and deployed Gujarat Police. What is the reason behind this?"

In retaliation, BJP's IT Department head Amit Malviya responded on X: "Is this your first election or are you feeling anxious about losing?"

Malviya emphasized that it is common practice to assign state police forces along with CAPF for election duties.

"For the Delhi elections, police forces from 12 states and union territories have been mobilized, including Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Maharashtra."

Furthermore, Malviya stated, "The Punjab Police was removed from your personal security arrangements. Remember, you are not synonymous with Delhi," as he posted on X.

Kejriwal's remarks also prompted a reaction from Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, who criticized the former Delhi CM, stating, "Now it makes sense why people label you a fraud!"

Sanghavi added on X: "Kejriwal ji, as a former Chief Minister, I’m astonished that you lack awareness of the Election Commission's guidelines. They have requested forces from various states, not solely Gujarat. The Election Commission of India has indeed ordered the deployment of SRP from multiple states, which is standard procedure. Following their request, 8 companies of SRP from Gujarat were dispatched to Delhi for the scheduled election on 11/1/25. Why did you specifically mention Gujarat, Kejriwal ji?"

The election for the 70-member Delhi Assembly is set for February 5, with the vote counting occurring on February 8.

The AAP, aiming for a third consecutive term, is encountering strong opposition from a revitalized BJP.

Meanwhile, the Congress, which had minimal impact in the previous election, is also striving for a stronger performance this time around.
