Pramod Tiwari Defends Purvanchali Voters' Role in Delhi's Growth Against Kejriwal's Comments

New Delhi, Jan 10 (NationPress) Following the uproar triggered by Arvind Kejriwal's comments on Purvanchal voters residing in Delhi, Congress politician Pramod Tiwari expressed strong disapproval of both the AAP and the BJP for designating these residents as outsiders. He emphasized that they have played a crucial role in the growth of the nation’s capital.
Tiwari remarked, “I want to inform Arvind Kejriwal and the BJP that the individuals from Purvanchal have significantly contributed to the advancement of Delhi. They are not outsiders. Those who have been residing and working here for over six months possess every legal right to vote and should be recognized as equal citizens.”
This statement came in response to AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s assertion that fake voter registrations are being fabricated using individuals from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Tiwari highlighted the vital input of Purvanchal inhabitants, who have established themselves in Delhi, in the city’s progress through their hard work, entrepreneurship, and financial contributions.
The Congress figure accused both AAP and BJP of employing divisive strategies, particularly during election periods. He claimed that the BJP has been involved in the removal of voters' names in states such as Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Kejriwal and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi approached the Election Commission recently. During a media interaction, Kejriwal stated that the BJP is allegedly bringing individuals from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar to fabricate votes.
On the topic of GST increases, Tiwari unleashed a fierce critique of the BJP-led Central government, branding the tax as the “Grihasthi Satyanash Tax (Household Destruction Tax).”
“This is the Gabbar Singh Tax, as Rahul Gandhi refers to it. It places a burden on the poor while favoring the affluent. Women are facing challenges in managing households due to soaring GST rates. While corporate taxes are slashed, ordinary citizens endure increased pressure,” he stated, urging for prompt action to alleviate inflationary burdens.
Regarding the INDIA alliance, Tiwari reiterated Congress's dedication to opposition collaboration. “The relationship within the INDIA bloc is solid, remains solid, and will continue to be so. In states like Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir, we have stood together.” Nevertheless, in Delhi, the two parties have diverged and are contesting elections independently.
