BJP Calls for Assembly Session to Enforce NRC in Delhi Amidst Rohingya Infiltrators

New Delhi, Dec 15 (NationPress) BJP's Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, on Sunday called for a special session of the Assembly to adopt a resolution to enforce the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the capital, targeting Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators.

Gupta accused Chief Minister Atishi of engaging in a blame game, claiming she has been misleading the public regarding the issue of infiltrators whom the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been harboring in the city and issuing election cards to.

“An all-party meeting should be convened to build a consensus on implementing the NRC in Delhi,” Gupta stated, suggesting that the AAP government could draft its own resolution for passage in the House.

The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is intended to compile a list of all legal Indian citizens to identify and deport illegal immigrants.

Gupta alleged that both the AAP and Congress are jointly compromising the integrity of Delhi by providing refuge to infiltrators.

“The AAP government is actively working to shield Rohingyas and Bangladeshi Muslims by settling them in Delhi. They are involved in creating fake voter cards for these individuals and permitting land encroachment,” he claimed.

“When confronted, the AAP government creates chaos while pretending to be concerned. When we raise this matter in the Assembly, our microphones are muted, and our statements are censored. This behavior reveals AAP's affinity for Rohingyas,” the Leader of Opposition remarked.

Previously, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva stated that since the BJP initiated a campaign to disenfranchise illegally residing Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Delhi, former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP have resorted to unfounded rhetoric to distract from the pressing issues faced by Delhi residents.

He noted that these illegal immigrants are not only disrupting social harmony in Delhi but are also contributing to a surge in crime.

Sachdeva emphasized that the increase in crime in Delhi is a consequence of a deteriorating social fabric, with illegal Rohingyas and Bangladeshis playing a significant role in the declining law and order situation.
