BJP Urges AAP Government to Present 12 CAG Reports in Delhi Assembly

New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) On the eve of the commencement of the final session of the current Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, the BJP's Leader of Opposition, has demanded the disclosure of 12 reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. He alleges that the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is attempting to hide information related to alleged financial mismanagement.
Gupta asserted that the AAP government has failed to present even a single CAG report in the Assembly during the last five years, stating, “We are reaching out to Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena to utilize his special authority to communicate with the Assembly and ensure that the CAG reports are tabled.”
He further accused the AAP administration of being financially insolvent, burdened with a debt of Rs 10,000 crore, and claimed that public funds have been squandered rather than being allocated for essential services such as sewer line installation, provision of drinking water, road development, and the issuance of ration cards, among other welfare and development activities.
“A constitutional crisis has emerged in Delhi, as the AAP has incurred a loan of Rs 10,000 crore without any oversight or accountability regarding its utilization,” he remarked.
Gupta emphasized the significance of the CAG reports for evaluating the expenditure of these funds, suggesting that the state of the AAP government is concerning. He noted that with two new CAG reports recently issued, the total number of reports pending presentation in the Assembly has risen to 14.
“We have consistently reminded the AAP administration of its obligations, yet it has been evading its constitutional responsibilities. Should these reports remain unaddressed in this final Assembly session, it will precipitate a constitutional crisis,” he warned.
Additionally, the BJP leader pointed out that the party intends to lodge a complaint with the LG regarding the issuance of ration and election cards to suspected Rohingyas in Delhi.
He accused Delhi government officials of coercing their counterparts into providing ration and election cards to illegal residents, including Rohingyas.
“We will not permit Delhi to be transformed into Bangladesh. We urge the L-G to take cognizance of these illegal voters and plan to address this matter in the Assembly,” Gupta concluded.
