Delhi Congress Accuses AAP and BJP of Diverting Attention with Rohingya Debate

New Delhi, Dec 8 (NationPress) The President of Delhi Congress, Devender Yadav, stated on Sunday that as elections approach, leaders from the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are bringing up outdated topics such as providing EWS flats to Rohingya refugees to shift the focus of voters away from the pressing issues and struggles faced by the people of Delhi.
The head of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee pointed out that over two crore residents of Delhi have been enduring significant hardships for the last decade, with both the AAP government in Delhi and the BJP-led Central government showing little concern for their well-being.
He remarked that the AAP, which gained power in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by making grand promises, has failed to establish the crucial decision-making body, the Standing Committee, due to ongoing disputes with the BJP, even after two years. This is indicative of Arvind Kejriwal’s ineffective governance model.
During the month-long Delhi Nyay Yatra, Yadav mentioned that he received countless complaints from citizens regarding the deteriorating conditions under the rule of both AAP and BJP, as Kejriwal and the BJP have neglected the populace to engage in trivial politics.
Yadav highlighted that AAP leaders are making a fuss over a two-year-old tweet by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri regarding plans for EWS flats for Rohingya refugees, attempting to overshadow the rampant corruption and mismanagement of the Kejriwal administration.
He pointed out that Kejriwal, along with Chief Minister Atishi and other AAP figures like Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, avoid discussing the dire conditions faced by residents struggling with broken roads, issues during the monsoon, pollution of air and water, cuts in welfare pensions, rising prices, unemployment, declining law and order, and the poor state of government schools and hospitals.
Yadav emphasized that while AAP and BJP have been exchanging blame over Puri’s old tweet, neither party has shown any genuine concern for Rohingyas over the past five years.
He criticized Kejriwal, who remained absent from public view while thousands perished during the Covid-19 pandemic, for collaborating with the BJP during extensive demolitions in JJ clusters.
Yadav accused Kejriwal of being adept at making ‘Revdi’ (freebie) promises, which only serve to line his own pockets rather than assist the average citizen.
He alleged that the impoverished residents in JJ clusters are compelled to buy bottled water for drinking as they do not even receive the contaminated tap water from the Delhi Jal Board.
