New Delhi, Feb 14 (NationPress) Devender Yadav, the President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC), criticized the 'unreasonable delay' in the selection of the new Chief Minister by the BJP, attributing it to an internal power struggle within the party.

He noted that nearly a week has passed since the results of the Delhi Assembly elections were disclosed, yet there remains no sign of resolution regarding the BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate.

Yadav expressed that the ongoing uncertainty regarding the next Chief Minister of Delhi is detrimental to the residents of the city.

He recalled that when the BJP first gained power in Delhi 27 years ago, the capital experienced a rotation of three Chief Ministers within just five years, from 1993 to 1998.

The President of the Delhi Congress remarked that a similar situation appears to be developing now, as approximately 10 BJP MLAs are reportedly claiming the top position.

Yadav argued that the Aam Aadmi Party's criticism of the BJP for not naming its CM candidate is hypocritical since, despite having 22 MLAs in the new Assembly, the AAP has yet to designate its Leader of the Opposition (LoP).

He pointed out that the former ruling party seems to be caught in its own power struggle, with AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia facing challenges, while Caretaker CM Atishi competes for the prestigious role.

Yadav mentioned that the conflict within the AAP regarding the LoP position may lead to the marginalization of claims from senior figures such as former Minister and AAP founding member Gopal Rai, as Kejriwal likely prefers a subordinate LoP to maintain control.

The Congress leader, who was defeated in the Assembly election from Badli, stated that the citizens of Delhi voted for the BJP with a significant majority of 48 seats, hoping for effective governance, and trusting that the 'double engine' BJP administration would address the concerns of the national capital.

He emphasized that it is now the responsibility of the BJP to select a capable and strong CM who can commence work promptly, without interference from other aspirants for the CM position, Yadav stated.

He urged the BJP to deliver on all its promised freebies during its inaugural Cabinet meeting, as pledged, and not to behave like Kejriwal, who prioritized corruption and misappropriation of taxpayers' funds for personal gain.
