New Delhi, Jan 29 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a strong attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration after a significant cache of cash, liquor bottles, and election materials were found in a government vehicle that bore a Punjab registration number, parked at Copernicus Road near Punjab Bhawan.
In response to the incident, BJP's IT Cell Chief Amit Malviya posted on X, stating, "A large consignment of liquor from Punjab was seized yesterday. Today, a government vehicle with a Punjab number plate and 'Punjab Sarkar' labeled on it was discovered at Copernicus Marg near Punjab Bhawan. Upon inspection, a substantial amount of cash, numerous liquor bottles, and AAP pamphlets were retrieved from inside. Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP Convenor, seems intent on manipulating these elections using money and liquor. What a disgraceful individual he is."
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva also condemned the AAP government, commenting: "We previously believed that Arvind Kejriwal had institutionalized corruption within the Delhi government. They (AAP) have tainted the Yamuna river and the air quality in Delhi, but today we realize that AAP has also contaminated the political landscape of Delhi."
Sachdeva further noted that in his 35 years of public service, he has never witnessed such a situation where such a large quantity of money and alcohol was seized from a government vehicle.
He demanded that Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann provide a transparent explanation to the citizens of Delhi regarding this issue.
Earlier on Wednesday, BJP candidate for the New Delhi Assembly seat, Parvesh Verma, accused AAP workers of traveling to different constituencies in private vehicles adorned with "Delhi Government" stickers, distributing money and liquor.
"In significant numbers, AAP supporters were seen in private vehicles with Uttar Pradesh registration numbers, handing out cash and alcohol. These vehicles displayed 'Delhi Government' stickers," Verma claimed during a press briefing.
He mentioned that complaints have been lodged with the Election Commission and Delhi Police, urging strict measures against his AAP rival.
Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of AAP, is running for the New Delhi seat. Voting is scheduled for February 5, with counting on February 8.
