Kejriwal Accuses BJP of Conspiracy Against AAP Following Exoneration
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 27 (NationPress) Arvind Kejriwal, the former Chief Minister of Delhi, held a press conference following his exoneration in the 'Liquorgate' scandal, where he launched a direct assault on the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Home Minister Amit Shah. He accused them of orchestrating a scheme to dismantle the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Kejriwal demanded an apology from both leaders for falsely implicating him and other AAP members, challenging the Centre to hold new Assembly elections to reflect public sentiment and discontent.
Joined by key AAP figures like Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, he expressed gratitude to the judiciary for maintaining the rule of law and demonstrating resilience in challenging circumstances.
He revealed plans to appeal the Enforcement Directorate's case against him in higher courts, arguing that it is baseless following the dismissal of the CBI case by the Rouse Avenue court.
Speaking at the party headquarters, Kejriwal maintained that he, Sisodia, and other AAP leaders were unjustly framed in a fabricated case that lacked legal merit and was promptly dismissed at the trial stage.
He stated, “The court confirmed that there was insufficient evidence to initiate a trial. In its 600-page ruling, it clearly indicated that no trial can proceed due to the absence of substantial grounds.”
Kejriwal accused the Centre, especially Modi and Shah, of plotting to eliminate AAP, describing their actions as a “malicious and nefarious conspiracy” to remove them from power.
He asserted that the Centre has used central agencies like the CBI and ED to intimidate AAP for the past four years, and he underscored his commitment to honesty, asserting that he has only sought respect in life, while being unfairly targeted by the BJP for political gain.
He remarked that the Centre's desperation for power led to the incarceration of five of his party's top leaders, adding, “Today’s court ruling firmly establishes that Kejriwal and AAP leaders are 'kattar imaandaar'.”
Kejriwal criticized the BJP for mismanagement and the current dire situation in the capital, urging the ruling party to prioritize governance improvements rather than engaging in slander, which he claimed is the only strategy they have left to counter him.
In a bold electoral challenge to the Prime Minister, he indicated that holding elections now would reveal the public's anger toward the BJP's harmful governance. “You won’t secure more than 10 seats,” Kejriwal predicted, foreseeing a significant electoral defeat for the BJP.
Addressing concerns raised by Congress regarding the clean chit, he questioned why prominent Congress figures like Rahul Gandhi or Robert Vadra have not faced jail time.
