Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 27 (NationPress) The President of the BJP's Kerala unit, K. Surendran, declared on Monday that while other political factions merely engage in discussions about women empowerment, the Kerala BJP has taken definitive actions to set a benchmark by appointing women to significant leadership roles within the state.

In the last three months, the Kerala BJP has executed comprehensive organizational elections, bringing about substantial alterations to its framework. Traditionally, each of the state’s 14 geographical districts had a single president, akin to other political parties in the region. However, the BJP has now increased this to 31 district presidents as part of a refreshed strategy aimed at bolstering organizational unity and generating more leadership avenues.

“As part of our restructuring, we have placed women in pivotal positions, including four district presidents and 34 constituency-level presidents across the state’s 140 assembly constituencies. This achievement is something other political parties can only aspire to,” stated a proud Surendran.

A comparative analysis indicates that while the CPI-M has no women in district secretary roles and the Congress has only one district president, the BJP has made significant advances in inclusivity.

Challenging stereotypes, Surendran further highlighted the BJP’s engagement with minority groups, disclosing that three district presidents are Christians.

“There’s a common notion that the BJP is strictly a Hindu party, but the reality is we have appointed three Christians as district presidents. Additionally, of the party’s 22,000 booth committees, women are at the helm of 30 percent of them. Women have been entrusted with leadership duties alongside individuals from other communities. Furthermore, 34 members from the SC community have been designated as assembly committee presidents,” remarked Surendran.

As the Kerala BJP aims to fortify its grassroots through these newly formed committees, focus now transitions to its state leadership. It remains uncertain whether Surendran will retain his presidential role or if a new leader and team will assume command.
