Kochi, Feb 17 (NationPress) The Kerala High Court on Monday conveyed its displeasure concerning the actions of former MLA P.C. George, who has continuously issued provocative remarks after being charged with allegedly making hate speech against a specific community during a news TV channel discussion.

George, aged 73, boasts a lengthy political history, having associated with various political parties before establishing his own, which he subsequently combined with the BJP in anticipation of the 2024 general elections. He currently serves as a senior figure within the BJP in Kerala.

The Court noted that George has consistently disregarded the directives from both the Magistrate Court and the High Court.

Previously, the High Court had granted him bail under the stipulation that he would abstain from making provocative statements.

“When the High Court issues orders, you are contravening them and returning again. What assurance do we have that you won’t repeat it tomorrow? The only thing I can suggest is that you should surrender,” the High Court remarked.

The court further directed the counsel: “Please consult your client regarding his willingness to surrender. I will schedule this for the day after tomorrow or issue a ruling now. I can proceed in two ways: either allow him to surrender and have it considered by the Magistrate on the same day, or I can issue a detailed order denying bail.”

The state government strongly opposed George's bail plea, highlighting that four cases have already been lodged against him for making provocative claims, including a previous statement targeting a specific community.

The court remarked verbally that there is a clear breach of the High Court’s order, and he is openly contravening the court’s rulings, which cannot be overlooked.

The court stated: "He is not an ordinary individual. He has a career entrenched in politics. When the High Court issues a statement, you are repeatedly flouting it. What is the resolution? If I accept your conditions and issue an order, tomorrow anyone could come here and disregard court mandates."

The court has scheduled the next hearing for Wednesday.
