Kochi, Oct 3 (NationPress) The Kerala High Court is making significant strides in modernizing its courtrooms by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and digital messaging solutions to expedite justice and improve accessibility.
Starting November 1, all courts across the state will implement Adalat.AI, a speech-to-text transcription system, to accurately record witness depositions.
Previously, witness statements were manually recorded by judges or typed by court personnel.
This transition to AI-powered transcription aims to reduce delays and enhance the precision of the process.
The system was initially piloted in four trial courts in Ernakulam earlier this year and received favorable reviews.
Thus, the High Court has mandated its usage statewide.
As per the guidelines, once the deposition is recorded and signed, it will be uploaded to the District Court Case Management System (DCMS), enabling parties and legal representatives to access it through their dashboards.
Nodal Officers in each district will oversee the implementation and submit monthly reports.
If technical issues arise, courts can request approval to use alternative, High Court-approved transcription services that guarantee data security.
Feedback, training requests, and concerns can be directed to Adalat.AI support, with copies sent to the High Court’s eCourt Cell.
In addition to AI, the High Court will also roll out WhatsApp notifications as part of its Case Management System starting October 6.
This initiative will enable advocates, litigants, and involved parties to receive immediate updates regarding case listings, e-filing issues, proceedings, and other court communications.
The court has clarified that WhatsApp messages will act as supplementary notifications and will not substitute official notices or summons.
All communications will originate from the verified sender ID “The High Court of Kerala”.
Stakeholders are urged to be vigilant against fraudulent messages and ensure their CMS profiles include an active WhatsApp number.
