Alappuzha (Kerala), Aug 13 (NationPress) A man from Kayamkulam, located approximately 45 km away, tragically died by suicide after sharing a heartfelt video message directed at his wife. This occurred two months following her departure to seek employment due to their financial struggles.

In the aftermath of his passing, law enforcement located her about 400 km away in Kannur, where she had been employed as a home nurse since leaving home.

Vinod (49), residing at Vishnu Bhavanam in Kannampalli, within the jurisdiction of the Kayamkulam police station, was discovered lifeless at his residence on Monday after he had posted a poignant video on social media, pleading for his wife’s return and assuring her that they could overcome their financial challenges together.

His wife, identified as Ranjini, had supposedly left home on June 11 under the pretense of going to the bank, but never returned.

However, the police provided a different narrative, revealing that she claimed he was a habitual drinker who subjected her to physical abuse. Ranjini had not disclosed her job or its location to him, only informing a few close relatives.

As the secretary of a Kudumbashree unit, Ranjini was burdened with a loan of Rs 1.25 lakh, contributing to a total debt of around Rs 3 lakh. Her inability to manage the debt and experience of his physical abuse compelled her to seek employment far from home.

The police noted that Ranjini did not inform Vinod about her job or its location, fearing he would disallow her from working. Following her departure, Vinod experienced significant mental distress, and all his attempts to find her were unsuccessful. Before committing the tragic act, he shared an emotional video on social media, urging her to come back so they could find a solution to their financial issues.

He had previously posted a similar video shortly after her departure.

Authorities indicated that Ranjini had left her mobile device at home before embarking on her job and had not seen the video Vinod posted. He is survived by his children, Vishnu and Devika.
