Thiruvananthapuram, March 19 (NationPress) The cabinet, led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, has sanctioned a comprehensive plan to celebrate the fourth anniversary of his second term, as announced by the Chief Minister’s Office on Wednesday.
Vijayan took the oath for a second consecutive term on May 20, 2021. While this marks the fourth anniversary of his current tenure, it is also the ninth uninterrupted year he has governed the state—a remarkable feat after his first victory in the 2016 Assembly elections, followed by a successful re-election in 2021.
To commemorate this occasion, Vijayan will undertake a statewide journey through all 14 districts starting next month. Local bodies will play a crucial role in these celebrations, which will feature district-level events leading up to a grand conclusion at the state level. The inaugural celebration, led by Vijayan, is set for April 21 in Kasaragod, the northernmost district of Kerala.
“I will engage with beneficiaries of government initiatives and prominent individuals in each district. Furthermore, a presentation highlighting the government’s accomplishments will take place, alongside a week-long exhibition,” Vijayan stated.
The initiative will also encompass extensive dialogues with diverse community groups, including students, women, professionals, SC/ST community members, and higher education and research scholars.
State cabinet ministers will oversee the events in their respective districts, with support from the Chief Secretary and other high-ranking officials to ensure the program's effectiveness. The district-level gatherings will also cover unresolved concerns raised by the public during Vijayan's 2023 tour of all 140 assembly constituencies.
Vijayan's proactive approach comes as Kerala gears up for local body elections anticipated after August this year, followed by the 2026 Assembly elections. The recently concluded CPI(M) state conference has reportedly empowered Vijayan to lead efforts to achieve a third consecutive term for his administration, leaving no stone unturned in this pursuit.
