Key Takeaways
Palakkad, March 29 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi proclaimed on Sunday that Kerala is ready to send a powerful signal of political transformation during a significant Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally at Kotta Maidanam in Palakkad, in anticipation of the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Commencing his address with blessings at the revered Kalpathy temple, Modi noted that the increasing support from the youth and women in Kerala signifies a change in political attitudes toward the BJP-led NDA. He remarked, "This shift is fueled by the goodwill of the people of Kerala," while honoring the memory of BJP members who lost their lives due to political strife.
The Prime Minister lauded Palakkad as the "gateway to Kerala's breathtaking landscapes" and highlighted its rich cultural heritage and talent.
He paid homage to eminent social reformers and spiritual leaders such as Sree Narayana Guru, Chattampi Swamikal, Mannath Padmanabhan, Ayyankali, and Kuriakose Elias Chavara, acknowledging their significant contributions to the social structure of Kerala.
In a more critical tone, Modi charged that Kerala is grappling with a severe unemployment crisis and economic mismanagement. He asserted that over the past decade, the state administration has failed to create industries capable of providing jobs to the youth.
He also targeted both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF), claiming they have engaged in years of misgovernance and "vote-bank politics."
"Currently, Kerala is under a debt of more than Rs 5 lakh crore. The pressing question is — where has this money been spent?" Modi questioned, alleging a pattern of corruption and financial mismanagement by consecutive state governments.
Reflecting on Palakkad's political past, Modi pointed out that the Assembly constituency has been represented by LDF and Congress MLAs for many years, yet has seen minimal development. He stated that tangible progress in the area commenced only after the BJP gained power at the national level.
Expressing confidence, Modi proclaimed that the NDA is firmly positioned to establish the next government in Kerala. "We (BJP) are dedicated to constructing a developed Kerala. This is my pledge," he emphasized.
In a pointed critique of political adversaries, Modi remarked that both LDF and UDF label each other as the BJP's "B team," yet their shared focus on attacking the BJP reveals their true apprehension. He asserted that an NDA administration would pursue investigations into alleged corruption involving both LDF and UDF.
Reinforcing his central message, Modi concluded, "What has remained unchanged until now will soon be transformed — Kerala will flourish."
