Thiruvananthapuram, March 11 (NationPress) On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi advocated for a transformative political shift in Keralam, emphasizing that the state is at a pivotal juncture in the 21st century and requires a “fresh start” beyond the cyclical governance of the two established political coalitions.

Speaking at an event organized by the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Kochi, PM Modi remarked that the NDA administration at the Center has formally acknowledged the state’s name as 'Keralam', signifying a commitment to honoring the state's cultural heritage.

“Now, people globally will refer to Kerala as Keralam, thanks to the NDA government,” he stated.

Stressing the significance of the upcoming decades for the state, PM Modi noted that Keralam possesses vast potential owing to its rich culture, beautiful coastline, and favorable climate, yet has not realized its developmental aspirations due to the alternating governance of the Left Democratic Front and the United Democratic Front.

“This repetitive pattern has fostered corruption, which has impeded progress,” he asserted, urging voters to consider the NDA after “70 years of trials with the same political factions.”

Labeling the UDF as a 'MMC group,' PM Modi explained that this stands for 'Muslim League, Maoist, Congress,' which he described as a perilous alliance.

Promising a “double engine government,” PM Modi assured that an NDA government in Keralam would prioritize growth in sectors like tourism, information technology, and emerging technologies.

He mentioned initiatives such as destination weddings and international conferences, aiming to establish Keralam as a prominent global tourism destination.

Highlighting welfare programs for coastal communities, he noted that the government has implemented numerous initiatives for fishermen, including an insurance policy providing coverage of ₹5 lakh for approximately four lakh fishermen nationwide.

He cited the Vizhinjam International Seaport as a testament to infrastructure advancements supported by the Center, stating that such projects would revitalize the state’s economy.

Addressing concerns of the large Malayali diaspora in the Gulf amid tensions in West Asia, he reassured that the government will persist in supporting Indians overseas.

Recalling past rescue missions that successfully brought citizens home, including nurses from Iraq and Father Tom Uzhunnalil, he emphasized the government's commitment.

Targeting the Opposition, PM Modi accused the Congress and the Left of “politicking” during global crises and claimed that both factions share culpability for corruption and economic stagnation in Keralam.

Despite what he termed as “conspiracies” from the two factions, PM Modi expressed optimism that a BJP-led NDA government would eventually rise in Keralam, elevating the state to “new heights of development.”

Following his address, the PM proceeded to Tamil Nadu for a series of scheduled events, having arrived in Keralam shortly before noon and completing all three engagements, greeted by a sizable crowd despite the oppressive heat.
