Itanagar, Jan 17 (NationPress) In a significant achievement, Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) apprehended one Tana Hasi, recognized as the primary recruiter for militant organizations. He maintained direct connections with senior officials of the United Tani Army (UTA) and Naga insurgent factions, authorities reported on Friday.
An APP spokesperson indicated that Tana Hasi, a resident of Itanagar, was detained on January 15 during a focused intelligence-led operation. The spokesperson asserted that Hasi had direct links with senior UTA members and Naga insurgents, acting as a conduit for vulnerable youth in Arunachal Pradesh.
The accused served as the chief recruiter, enlisting young people and orchestrating their transportation to camps affiliated with outlawed organizations. Tana Hasi had been actively identifying potential recruits, and Capital police managed to prevent one such youth from joining the underground group. According to an official announcement, "Social media and local networks were utilized to target and mislead young individuals, pressuring them to join UTA."
The statement emphasized the perilous activities of UTA, which aims to disrupt peace and exploit the talents of youth for violent agendas. Police have identified numerous individuals who have been recruited into the UTA faction. The State Police urges these young people to return voluntarily to their families, assuring them that no legal action will be taken if they come forward.
"We understand that many may have been misled or coerced into joining. If you choose to step back now, we will offer support to help you reintegrate into society and seek a brighter future," the statement added. The Arunachal Pradesh police also called upon parents and guardians to remain vigilant and guide their children away from such harmful influences.
"If you suspect your child or someone you know has been recruited, please encourage them to come forward voluntarily. We are here to assist and ensure their safety." The police reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling recruitment networks like those employed by UTA and maintaining peace in the region.
"We urge the community to stay alert and report any suspicious activities. Together, we can thwart these harmful ideologies and protect our youth's future. Arunachal Pradesh is a land of peace and opportunity. Let us collaborate to uphold the harmony of our state and afford our youth the chance to flourish in a violence-free environment," the statement concluded.
