Itanagar, Feb 20 (NationPress) In a significant operation, security forces in Arunachal Pradesh successfully prevented a major terrorist attack by apprehending an NSCN-IM militant and confiscating a substantial arsenal of weapons and ammunition in the border district of Longding, officials announced on Friday.

A police spokesperson in Itanagar revealed that the operation was executed by a collaborative team comprising the Assam Rifles, Special Task Force, and local police from Longding.

Acting on precise intelligence, the forces launched the operation on Friday, effectively dismantling a serious terror conspiracy by detaining an extremist linked to the NSCN-IM (National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) faction.

The detained militant has been identified as self-styled 'captain' Ponglem Wangpan (35), a member of the Isak-Muivah faction of the NSCN.

According to official sources, the operation took place at Tissing, located near Zedua village, within the jurisdiction of the Longding police station.
