Arunachal Pradesh: Security Forces Seize 10 Advanced Assault Rifles from Militants

Itanagar, Dec 28 (NationPress) The security forces have successfully retrieved ten advanced assault rifles in the Changlang District of Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday, as per Defence officials.

A Defence spokesperson stated that a well-orchestrated joint operation by the security forces resulted in the recovery of these ten advanced assault rifles from the Miao-Vijaynagar regions in Changlang.

The operation was executed collaboratively by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles alongside the Arunachal Pradesh police.

During the thorough search, specialized teams utilized drones, tracker dogs, metal detectors, and other advanced equipment.

This recovery marks one of the largest seizures in the region to date.

The weapons were hidden in a forest area and had been sought after by insurgent groups operating in Changlang for over six months.

According to reports, these weapons were allegedly buried by the Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG), a Naga militant organization, prior to their surrender last year,” the spokesperson mentioned.

Utilizing their expertise and reliable intelligence, the security forces successfully uncovered the concealed cache within the dense forest.

Before initiating the operation, the security personnel ensured the safe passage of tourists present in the Namdapha Reserve Forest, with the Defence PRO stating that the operation was conducted with utmost professionalism and precision to prevent a large cache of weapons from falling into insurgent hands.

According to the spokesperson, numerous tips had been received over the last six months regarding efforts by various insurgent groups, including NSCM (IM) and NSCN (KYA), with assistance from ENNG cadres, to recover the cache.

This successful operation highlights the unwavering commitment of our security forces toward maintaining peace and security in the region, the defence official remarked.

Additionally, in March of the previous year, 15 ENNG cadres surrendered and laid down their arms before Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and officials from the police and Assam Rifles at Itanagar.
