New Delhi, Feb 19 (NationPress) In a recent gathering of All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretaries and state incharges, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized the need for accountability regarding each state's organizational strength and electoral success. “I must highlight a vital aspect -- you will all be responsible for the party’s organization and election results in your states,” he stated to the leaders.

Kharge expressed alarm over purported extensive tampering of voter lists, a concern previously raised by Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha.

He accused the BJP of erasing names of Congress supporters and shifting voters to different polling places at the last minute, while also adding new names just before elections.

Furthermore, he condemned the government for manipulating the selection process of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) by omitting the Chief Justice of India from the selection committee.

“The Supreme Court had mandated the inclusion of the Chief Justice, but PM Modi eliminated him. This government shows a lack of trust in the Chief Justice of India’s impartiality,” he remarked.

Echoing Rahul Gandhi’s views, he criticized the usage of the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha as a mere tool for “certification” within the selection committee.

Kharge further chastised Prime Minister Modi for not defending India’s trade interests during his recent trip to the United States.

He charged PM Modi with failing to object to U.S. tariffs on Indian goods, labeling it a betrayal of national interests. “They are imposing a loss-making deal on us, and our government remains passive. This is an insult to India and its citizens,” he declared.

Additionally, he criticized the government’s inadequate response to the mistreatment of Indian nationals in the U.S., noting that Indians continue to be deported in handcuffs.

He also claimed that vegetarian passengers were served non-vegetarian meals on flights, calling it a serious affront that the government neglected to address.

Kharge reiterated the Congress' pledge to the 'Save Constitution Campaign,' which will persist over the next year through initiatives like 'padyatras', debates, and public meetings. He highlighted that the main goal of these endeavors should be to fortify the party’s organization.

Acknowledging the Congress party's efforts in Delhi despite limited resources, Kharge commended workers and leaders for fostering an atmosphere of change.

He urged them to sustain this momentum over the next five years to position Congress as the primary Opposition through ongoing engagement in mass movements and public issues.

“Only by doing so can we become the preferred choice of the people,” he asserted.
