New Delhi, Aug 13 (NationPress) Intensifying his attack on the government, Congress leader Pawan Khera on Wednesday asserted that all ministers ought to resign and fresh Parliamentary elections should take place to safeguard the ‘purity and sanctity’ of India’s electoral process.
To back his claims, he mentioned that the ruling party has echoed its allegations of ‘vote chori’ and voter list irregularities, citing Anurag Thakur’s press conference earlier that day, thus providing a ‘strong foundation’ for calling for new elections.
In a candid conversation with IANS, Khera reiterated Congress’s assertions of extensive manipulation in the voter lists and electoral rolls, attributing it to fraudulent data, which the BJP also validated during their discussions.
“With both ruling and opposition parties in agreement, the pressing question is: what action will the Election Commission take now?” he questioned.
Khera, who leads Congress’s media and publicity department, made a shocking accusation, claiming that the ruling BJP and the Election Commission are colluding.
He alleged that BJP MP Anurag Thakur gained access to electronic voter list data in a mere two days, a privilege for which they had been requesting from the Election Commission for over six months.
Earlier, Thakur raised concerns regarding ‘fake voters’ in numerous constituencies, particularly highlighting some prominent constituencies linked to Opposition leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav. He suggested that these parties and their leaders were anxious and concerned about the potential ‘purge’ of fraudulent entries in their voter lists, which fueled protests against the SIR.
Thakur accused the Congress-led opposition of orchestrating a malicious propaganda campaign aimed at discrediting the entire revision process, presenting what he claimed were dubious votes in various constituencies.
In response to the allegation of 93,000 fake votes in Priyanka Gandhi’s Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, Khera stated that the Congress MP secured victory by a margin of 4.10 lakh votes, and even if approximately 1 lakh votes were deemed ineligible, it would not jeopardize her position.
Khera charged the Election Commission and the BJP with collaborating to undermine the opposition, asserting that the voter verification process was merely a tactic to eliminate their support base.
