To curb the influx of illegal money and weapons from outside, strict surveillance and raids are being conducted.

This morning, operations were conducted in the Shyambazar district, where central forces, the Static Surveillance Team (SST), and officers from the Burtolla police station examined various vehicles.

During the search of a vehicle, the presence of two passengers raised suspicion. They possessed a black leather bag, which, when opened, revealed a large amount of cash. Preliminary questioning revealed that the suspects, identified as Sajidur Rahman and Vivek Ojha, could not provide any legitimate documentation or accurate information regarding the money. Subsequently, they were taken to the police station for further inquiry.

It has been reported that Sajidur Rahman resides in Janaki Nagar within the jurisdiction of the Kaliganj police station in Nadia district, while Vivek Ojha hails from Salkia in Howrah district.

Shibbrata Roy, the nodal officer for the Shyampukur 166 Assembly constituency, was present during the cash seizure.

Recently, the Central Bureau of Investigation executed a raid in the Behala region of South Kolkata, recovering over Rs 1 crore from a company executive's residence.

Additionally, substantial cash was also seized during operations at the West Bengal-Assam border.
