Kolkata, Aug 17 (NationPress) The Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate announced on Sunday that they have uncovered plans for a violent movement set to take place in Kolkata on Monday (August 18) by individuals affected by the School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment scandal.
The police revealed that they obtained an audio recording of a conversation between two job seekers, indicating that under the guise of a march to the SSC office in the Salt Lake area, there are intentions to incite chaos by launching petrol bombs and socket bombs at law enforcement officials.
Deputy Commissioner of Bidhannagar Police, Aneesh Sarkar, stated during a press briefing: "We received intelligence from a confidential source. The recorded conversation revealed disturbing plans for a violent protest tomorrow. We have taken possession of this recording and initiated a case."
Following this, the Bidhannagar Police shared the audio clip and confirmed that the individuals involved have been identified, with appropriate actions to be taken against them. The police assured that measures will be implemented to uphold law and order.
In the nearly six-minute clip, the individuals discussed plans to hurl socket bombs and petrol bombs at police officers and set them ablaze using matches. There were also threats made against SSC examination centers. However, IANS could not independently verify the authenticity of the audio content.
On the other hand, Suman Biswas, a representative of the Qualified Teachers' Rights Forum organizing the march, dismissed the police's assertions. He called for 'qualified' unemployed individuals to participate peacefully.
Biswas took to social media to confirm that the SSC Bhavan march is still scheduled for August 18 and sent an email to the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate regarding this. However, the police did not grant permission for the march.
"We are not involved with any statements suggesting violence. We seek a dialogue with SSC Chairman Siddharth Majumdar. The SSC march will proceed with the assistance of the police," stated Suman Biswas.
