Pune, Dec 29 (NationPress) Komal Seth, the Regional President of Southern Star AWWA, paid a visit to the Artificial Limb Centre in Pune on Monday, commending the invaluable work being carried out for amputees, according to an official from the Indian Army’s Southern Command.

She praised the devoted team at the ALC for their role in restoring mobility, confidence, and dignity to amputees, reflecting the resilience that defines the fraternity, the official stated on X.

During her visit, the Regional President of Southern Star AWWA honored battle casualties and unveiled a statue of a Blade Runner on ALC Cross Road. This statue symbolizes the spirit of amputee Paralympians in the Armed Forces, embodying speed, courage, and the determination to rise above every challenge, the official remarked.

The visit reaffirmed the mission of Southern Star AWWA to support soldiers and their families at every stage, promoting care, capability, and confidence through initiatives driven by empathy and compassion, it added.

The Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) chapter for the Indian Army's Southern Command is a dynamic organization dedicated to the welfare, empowerment, and community building for army families in Southern India, particularly in Pune.

Previously, as part of the Army’s commitment to fostering holistic growth and developing responsible, confident, and capable future leaders, the Southern Command hosted Naib Subedar Jasmine, a World Boxing Championship Gold Medallist, as mentioned in an official statement on X on December 27.

The boxer engaged with children and their parents from the Agnibaaz Division, delivering a powerful motivational session about the importance of sports, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle, according to the official.

She inspired the young audience to dream big, face challenges with perseverance, and have faith in their abilities. Sharing touching anecdotes from her own journey, she warmly interacted with the children, addressing their questions, providing guidance, and instilling confidence.

In a previous post, the Ministry of Defence highlighted the remarkable journey of Archer Subedar Tarundeep Rai, a Padma Shri awardee from the 5/8 Gorkha Rifles.

“Over his 28-year journey as an archer, he demonstrates how military discipline, relentless training, and a strong sense of service have shaped his aspirations and achievements. This isn't just a sports narrative; it serves as a lesson in endurance and commitment to the Tricolour,” the Ministry stated in a post on Sunday.
