The Rajasthan government on Wednesday constituted a specialist medical board and ordered a high-level inquiry after one of six women who developed complications following caesarean deliveries at New Medical College Hospital in Kota died, with the remaining five placed under close medical supervision. The state government took serious note of reports regarding the deteriorating health condition of the postpartum women undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Six women developed complications after undergoing caesarean deliveries at New Medical College Hospital, Kota. One of the six subsequently died, while the other five have been shifted to the Super Speciality Hospital in Kota, where they are receiving advanced treatment under specialist supervision, according to Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary, Medical Education.

Rathore confirmed that the condition of the remaining patients is being monitored continuously and that all necessary medical facilities are being provided.

Government Response

Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar directed immediate intervention and ordered a detailed inquiry into the matter. A team of four specialist doctors from Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur, has been dispatched to Kota to assist in the treatment and assessment of the affected patients.

The team comprises experts from the departments of anaesthesia, medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, and nephrology. Officials said the specialists would support ongoing treatment and also evaluate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Rajasthan government has ordered a comprehensive and time-bound inquiry to ascertain the cause of the incident. Officials concerned have been directed to ensure complete transparency and accountability during the investigation process.
