Ahmedabad, April 7 (NationPress) Krida Bharati, the Gujarat branch of the national sports organization associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has officially voiced its backing for the physical education teachers (Vyayam Shikshaks) who are currently engaging in protests in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, demanding permanent recruitment.
Numerous physical education instructors from various regions of the state have been participating in a sit-in at Gandhinagar for several days, advocating for long-overdue permanent recruitment into government and grant-aided schools.
The educators, many of whom are on temporary 11-month contracts, claim that there has been no full-time recruitment in Gujarat for the last 15 years.
In a press release, Krida Bharati highlighted that this situation is contradictory to the nation’s sporting aspirations.
“While the Central government is working towards hosting the Olympic Games in India by 2036, Gujarat has not initiated any recruitment for physical education teachers at the primary, secondary, and higher secondary levels for over a decade and a half,” the statement elaborated.
The organization underlined that sports assistants have been raising these issues for years without any substantial response from the state.
Krida Bharati stated that it has submitted memorandums to District Collectors throughout Gujarat, seeking immediate action from the government.
The movement is being spearheaded by Western Region Coordinator Rameshbhai Prajapati and Karnavati Mahanagar President Pratapsinh Jhala, who, along with a team of sports professionals, teachers, and Krida Bharati members, have previously met with the Ahmedabad District Collector.
Similar representations have also been made to Collectors in Mehsana, Patan, Vadodara, Surat, Tapi, Sabarkantha, Anand, Palanpur, and Navsari, among other districts.
Krida Bharati aims to escalate the issue through official channels to ensure it captures the attention of key policymakers.
The protesting educators contend that despite multiple promises from the state government over the past 13 years, a sustainable recruitment policy has yet to be established.
They argue that working on short-term contracts leaves them without job security, benefits, and a stable career path within the education sector.
With a prominent sports organization like Krida Bharati lending its support to the protests, pressure is increasing on the state government to address the concerns of thousands of physical education teachers who are awaiting permanent positions.
