Bengaluru, June 3 (NationPress) Karnataka BJP chief B. Y. Vijayendra accused the Congress administration in the state of perpetrating police goondagiri (hooliganism) against Hindu activists.
His comments were made in response to police actions targeting Hindu activists in the coastal region amidst recent communal unrest.
In light of the situation, a group of BJP MLAs and MPs is currently in discussions with DG and IGP M.A. Saleem.
Speaking to the press in Bengaluru, Vijayendra commented on the externment orders issued to 36 individuals, stating, "The police are invading the homes of Hindu activists during late hours and interrogating them. Are we living in a democratic society?"
He issued a stern warning to the Chief Minister and Home Minister: "If you do not amend your ways and persist with this police goondagiri in Mangaluru and the coastal region, where law and order have become severely compromised, the BJP will respond."
He added, "I have brought this issue to the attention of both national and state leadership. Today, MLAs and MPs from the coastal area are engaging with the DG and IGP of the state. This is a clear message: the BJP will not tolerate police overreach against Hindu activists."
"The state government will bear the responsibility for future repercussions. It is unacceptable for the state to endorse the humiliation of Hindu activists," he stressed.
"The Congress-led government is mismanaging the state more than the times of monarchic rule, where governance was dictated by the whims of representatives. The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah-led government is engaging in a ‘Tughlak’s durbar,’ disregarding all democratic norms," he criticized.
"This is not merely the perspective of the state BJP chief; the public has witnessed the governance over the past few months. There is widespread discontent due to a lack of developmental initiatives. These actions are mere distractions from their failures," he noted.
"The government is conspiring to disgrace Hindu activists. I challenge CM Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G. Parameshwara: when Hindu activist Suhas Shetty was murdered, the Home Minister expressed interest in visiting his family, but 'evil forces' obstructed him. What measures did you take in response to this?" Vijayendra questioned.
"Upon the murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty, the involvement of women was apparent, as evidenced on video: three to four women aided the culprits and 'anti-nationals' in their escape. What actions have been taken in this regard? Have they been apprehended?" he questioned.
"Similar incidents are occurring in Kerala and other states, but they are now manifesting in our region. There is a growing skepticism regarding the existence of a genuine elected government and effective representation. Meanwhile, the government is filing FIRs against senior RSS leaders and Hindu activists, and party workers are under threat," he stated.
