Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Friday, 12 June demanded that the Congress party leadership investigate who within its own ranks leaked case details against Meenakshi Natarajan to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, ultimately leading to the rejection of her Rajya Sabha nomination. Speaking to media persons in Hyderabad, KTR squarely blamed internal Congress betrayal and factional politics for the episode.

Call to Identify the 'Black Sheep'

KTR stated that Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, must identify the “black sheep” within the Congress who are undermining the party from within. He questioned why Congress leaders were attempting to drag political opponents into what he described as a consequence of their own internal dysfunction.

KTR also remarked that if Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is so inclined towards constituting Special Investigation Teams (SITs), he should order an SIT probe into this matter as well. He alleged that Congress has a history of selling important party positions for money, and claimed that the current Chief Minister himself secured his position through financial and political arrangements.

Condemnation of CM Revanth Reddy's Hitler Remarks

KTR strongly condemned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for remarks that reportedly referenced Hitler and war-related destruction in an admiring tone. He called it deeply disturbing that a democratically elected Chief Minister would glorify such destruction, arguing that such comments are unacceptable in a democracy and expose dangerous thinking. KTR also expressed disappointment over Minister Sridhar Babu's defence of the Chief Minister's remarks, saying it was unfortunate that an educated and experienced leader would attempt to justify such statements.

Hyderabad Infrastructure and Monsoon Preparedness

KTR criticised the current government's handling of Hyderabad's monsoon preparedness and urban infrastructure. He asserted that the city's current resilience is largely due to projects implemented during the BRS government's tenure, and alleged that the Congress administration failed to conduct proper monsoon preparedness reviews or maintain existing infrastructure.

He further alleged that the cancellation of the Airport Metro project increased traffic congestion and deprived lakhs of commuters of a significant transport solution. On HYDRAA, KTR alleged that the agency has evolved into an institution focused more on intimidation than genuine public service, being used as an excuse for every urban problem — from flood management and desilting to lake protection — without delivering meaningful results.

Allegations Over CM's Residence and Financial Governance

KTR accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of constructing an extravagant residence costing nearly ₹200 crore while neglecting public welfare commitments. He questioned where revenues from large-scale government land sales and massive borrowings have gone, alleging that welfare schemes, pension commitments, and fee reimbursement programmes remain poorly implemented. He also alleged that several government orders relating to the Chief Minister's residence have been kept secret and criticised the purchase of helicopters as extravagant expenditure.

BRS Outlook: Independent Contests, Return to Power

KTR also turned his attention to the BJP at the Centre, alleging that key promises — including doubling farmers' incomes, housing for all, universal drinking water access, and a $5 trillion economy — remain unfulfilled after more than a decade of BJP rule. He argued that instead of addressing economic and social challenges, the BJP has focused on divisive politics, and claimed that Telangana has received little benefit from 12 years of BJP governance at the Centre.

KTR expressed confidence that the BRS will return to power with a strong majority in the next elections, citing multiple surveys indicating growing public dissatisfaction with the Congress government. He clarified that BRS intends to contest future elections independently, without electoral alliances, and that the party is addressing shortcomings identified by the public following its previous electoral defeat.
