Hyderabad, April 6 (NationPress) K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), stated that the struggle to preserve the 400-acre Kancha Gachibowli forest is ongoing and criticized the plans to relocate Hyderabad Central University to the proposed 'Fourth City'.

He penned a passionate open letter to students, environmental advocates, and residents of Telangana, denouncing the Congress-led state government's alleged smear campaign and intimidation tactics directed at HCU students.

KTR, widely known as the BRS leader, lambasted the government for undermining a legitimate environmental initiative by disseminating false information, including the proposed relocation of the university and plans to establish an “Eco Park” in its stead. He described these efforts as a “deliberate conspiracy” aimed at distracting the public and undermining a just cause.

“Movements driven by altruism invariably prevail,” KTR stated, expressing his appreciation for HCU students, environmental activists, public figures, media, and the extended community for their support of nature.

Recognizing the remarkable resistance of students to defend the ecologically valuable land, which hosts hundreds of species, KTR asserted that such youth-led activism serves as a model for the entire country. He stressed that the area must be permanently safeguarded and vowed that the struggle would continue until the government fully retracts its plans to auction and destroy the forest.

KTR also revealed the alleged covert plans of the state government to relocate HCU to the so-called “Fourth City” and criticized the Chief Minister's office and Congress leaders for behaving like real estate agents rather than public servants.

“The Hyderabad Central University campus has been a symbol of environmental balance and academic distinction for over 50 years—much more than any artificial Eco Park could ever be. Dismantling it in the name of development is a betrayal of our future,” he declared.

Referencing the Supreme Court's intervention in halting previous environmental infringements, KTR reminded that while one phase of the struggle has been successful, the fight is not finished. He urged the people of Telangana, particularly students and environmental advocates, to maintain their united and peaceful resistance.

KTR reiterated BRS's dedication to preserving the entire 400 acres without compromising the university's future and called for an immediate cessation of all auction-related activities.

“Until then, this struggle will persist. Together, we will defend Kanche Gachibowli for future generations,” KTR concluded.
