Raichur (Karnataka), April 4 (NationPress) Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy affirmed his unwavering support for the Karnataka government regarding developmental initiatives, emphasizing the importance of distinguishing between politics and governance.

His remarks came during the inauguration of a newly established Sainik School at Sri Krishnadevaraya Educational Institution in Sindhanur, Raichur district.

The school was inaugurated in collaboration with Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh.

In his address, Kumaraswamy highlighted the Union government's substantial efforts to enhance India’s defence sector under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, noting that the establishment of the Sainik School in Sindhanur is a significant part of this initiative.

He expressed his gratitude to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth.

Kumaraswamy mentioned that the Centre has fulfilled the demand for a Sainik School in Sindhanur and recognized the contributions of former minister Venkatarav Nadagouda in this achievement.

He asserted that the approval of the school signifies the Centre’s dedication to the development of Raichur district and the entire state.

Kumaraswamy stressed that development should not be politicized. “We must all collaborate for the advancement of the state. Regarding developmental issues, I will consistently support the state government,” he declared.

He also pointed out that there are numerous developmental projects needed in Raichur and elsewhere in the state and urged for cooperation beyond political divides.

“Anyone can freely approach me regarding development-related efforts. I see it as my responsibility to aid in the state’s progress,” he remarked.

He noted the demand for an AIIMS in Raichur and the construction of the Navile reservoir alongside the Tungabhadra reservoir. “These are significant requests. We must work collectively to address them,” he stated.

Responding to calls for industrial growth in the region, the minister expressed his support for initiatives aimed at attracting industries and committed to working diligently towards establishing at least one industry.

Reinforcing his position, he reiterated, “Politics and development are separate. I will always support the state government on development matters.”

Regarding the Navile reservoir proposal, Kumaraswamy emphasized it should not become a political issue or a burden for Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh.

He explained that silt accumulation in the Tungabhadra reservoir has resulted in a loss of approximately 30 TMC of water storage capacity, and the new reservoir would facilitate better irrigation.

Drawing from his experience as a former Chief Minister, he acknowledged that irrigation challenges are intricate and necessitate careful management. “This sensitive issue must be resolved through mutual understanding and dialogue between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. It requires time and cooperation; otherwise, it may escalate into a political conflict,” he cautioned.

Kumaraswamy reminisced that farmers in the region used to cultivate two paddy crops annually, but now struggle to grow even one, attributing this predicament to unregulated mining that resulted in silt build-up in the reservoir. He insisted that timely preventive actions should have been taken.

He expressed confidence that the Navile reservoir project could be accomplished through trust, collaboration, and constructive discussions beyond political affiliations.

Reflecting on his time as Chief Minister, he noted that he implemented various welfare initiatives, including farm loan waivers, but expressed disappointment that while people recognize his contributions, they do not always vote for him.

Kumaraswamy also recalled that during his coalition government with the Congress in 2018, he had envisioned nine industrial clusters across the state as part of a “Compete with China” initiative to enhance investment and employment. However, this plan was halted following the collapse of his government.

The minister conveyed his appreciation to Sanjay Seth and Nara Lokesh for their participation in the inauguration and expressed gratitude to Visakhapatnam MP Sribharat for facilitating Lokesh’s visit.

He commended Lokesh as a promising and humble young leader with a bright political future.

Numerous dignitaries, including MLAs, MPs, MLCs, and officials from the educational institution, were present at the event.

Earlier, Kumaraswamy, Sanjay Seth, and Nara Lokesh received a warm welcome through a roadshow in Sindhanur, where they were honored with large garlands and paraded through the main streets of the town. Subsequently, they unveiled a statue of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao.
