Bengaluru, May 30 (NationPress) - Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, has strongly criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the ongoing issues of communal violence and floods affecting coastal Karnataka. He has called on the CM to make an urgent visit to the affected areas to address the crisis faced by the residents.
Kumaraswamy issued a press release on Friday stating, “Mr. Siddaramaiah, your government’s excuses are no longer acceptable. You must visit the coastal region without delay. Provide strength and hope to the communities devastated by both floods and violence.”
“Although the floods are a result of nature’s wrath, the ongoing murders represent a political calamity instigated by your (Congress) party. As the Chief Minister, it is your immediate duty to act,” Kumaraswamy implored.
He added, “The relentless rainfall throughout the state, particularly in the coastal areas, has wreaked havoc on daily life. People are suffering immensely. Instead of taking responsible action to alleviate their pain, the Congress-led Karnataka government appears intent on deepening their despair.”
With homes, roads, and bridges in ruins, cities, towns, and villages are inundated, leaving citizens in great distress. “What measures has your government taken to ensure the safety of individuals already in peril? If lives are lost due to the floods, what good is it for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to simply instruct ministers to 'go visit'? As the saying goes, 'What’s the use of locking the door after the fort has been looted?' What preparations were made prior to the onset of the rains? Is this what true governance focused on the people looks like? Is this what it means to stand by your words?” Kumaraswamy criticized.
The Union Minister pointed out that while the Congress government shows little concern for the relentless downpours in the coastal areas, it demonstrates an excessive interest in the coastal murders, “not to prevent them, but to gain politically from these tragedies.”
“Mr. CM Siddaramaiah, you have been in office for two years, yet this time has been spent blaming other parties. How many murders have occurred in the coastal area since you took office? Why hasn’t there been any improvement? Did one community not support your party entirely? You have failed to protect them while continuing to spew hatred against other communities,” Kumaraswamy remarked.
“You have transformed a once harmonious community into a nest of venomous snakes,” he emphasized.
The atmosphere in coastal Karnataka has been charged following a wave of murders, mob lynchings, and stabbings. Moreover, heavy rainfall has further disrupted normal life in the region.
