Kuwait's Foreign Minister Describes PM Modi as One of the Most Astute Leaders Globally

New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) Referring to India as a significant partner, Kuwait's Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya on Wednesday commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the West Asian nation perceives the Indian leader as one of the most astute individuals globally.
"I would like to express my gratitude for the invitation and the chance to meet with Prime Minister Modi, whom we regard as one of the most astute individuals in the world. I am confident that the Prime Minister elevates India's status, and I trust he will continue to do so... India is a crucial partner, and we rely on our relationship," the visiting Foreign Minister remarked during his initial comments at the delegation-level meeting with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar in New Delhi on Wednesday evening.
Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya arrived in India late Tuesday night for an official visit aimed at enhancing the multifaceted relationship between the two nations.
Earlier in the day, he paid a courtesy call to PM Modi at his Lok Kalyan Marg residence before convening with EAM Jaishankar at the Hyderabad House.
"Pleased to welcome the Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya. I appreciate the Kuwaiti leadership for their support of Indian nationals. India is dedicated to progressing our deep-rooted and historic connections for the benefit of our populace and the region," PM Modi shared on X following the meeting.
India and Kuwait have a historically robust bilateral relationship that has endured over time. Established through centuries of trade and cultural exchange, this partnership predates Kuwait's independence in 1961, when the Indian Rupee was its legal currency.
"I believe the Joint Committee will address many concerns between Kuwait and India. I think we can formulate a roadmap for our progress and move forward swiftly," Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya stated.
Kuwait's economy, prior to the discovery of oil, thrived on maritime endeavors, which included shipbuilding, pearl diving, and trading products like Arabian horses, dates, and pearls with India in return for goods such as wood, spices, and textiles.
This enduring legacy of collaboration was celebrated during the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations in 2021-22.
The Indian community in Kuwait, estimated at one million individuals, constitutes the largest expatriate group in the country. Known for their diverse contributions, Indians occupy various roles across sectors such as engineering, medicine, IT, business, and trade.
The vibrant Indian business community in Kuwait, which includes retailers, distributors, and professionals, has played a pivotal role in fortifying economic ties.
Well-known Indian brands such as Lulu Hypermarket and Centre Point have become essential components of the Kuwaiti market.
Cultural and social interactions flourish through over 200 Indian associations registered with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait. These groups actively organize events to foster cultural exchange and community welfare, further enhancing the people-to-people connection between the two nations.
