Enhancing Multifaceted Relations: MEA on Kuwait FM's Official Visit to India

New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) Kuwait's Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya has landed in India for an official visit on Tuesday, as reported by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). This visit is set to further bolster the multifaceted relationship between the two nations.
Upon his arrival, the MEA extended a warm reception to the Kuwait Minister.
"We are further enhancing India-Kuwait multifaceted relations. A warm welcome to FM Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya from MoFA Kuwait as he arrives in India for an official visit," the MEA announced on the social media platform X.
As per an official press release from the MEA, Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya will remain in India until Wednesday, December 4.
His agenda includes high-profile discussions, beginning with a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PM's residence on Wednesday.
Subsequently, he will engage with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at the Hyderabad House in the national capital.
Al-Yahya is scheduled to return to Kuwait on Wednesday night, according to the press statement.
India and Kuwait maintain a historically robust bilateral relationship that has endured through time. Rooted in centuries of trade and cultural exchanges, this partnership predates Kuwait's independence in 1961 when the Indian Rupee was used as its legal currency.
Before the discovery of oil, Kuwait's economy flourished through maritime activities like shipbuilding, pearl diving, and trading commodities such as Arabian horses, dates, and pearls with India, in return for wood, spices, and textiles.
This enduring legacy of collaboration was celebrated during the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both nations in 2021-22.
The Indian community, estimated to be around one million strong, constitutes the largest expatriate group in Kuwait. Renowned for their diverse contributions, Indians are engaged in various sectors including engineering, medicine, IT, business, and trade.
The vibrant Indian business community in Kuwait, which includes retailers, distributors, and professionals, has significantly contributed to strengthening economic ties.
Notable Indian brands such as Lulu Hypermarket and Centre Point have become essential parts of the Kuwaiti marketplace.
Cultural and social interactions flourish through over 200 Indian associations registered with the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, which actively organize programs aimed at promoting cultural exchange and community welfare, further enhancing the people-to-people connection between the two nations.
