Guwahati, March 15 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced on Saturday that the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy will soon incorporate an arms simulator aimed at equipping the forces for real-world combat scenarios.
During his visit to the academy, the Chief Minister evaluated various aspects of the police training facility.
On the social media platform X, CM Sarma shared, "Advancing the vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji for SMART policing, the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy will introduce a weapon simulator to train our forces for actual combat situations while minimizing risks and financial expenses and ensuring foundational training."
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to inaugurate the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy today.
Union Minister Shah arrived in Jorhat on Friday night and was welcomed by Chief Minister Sarma.
In a message on X, the Union Home Minister stated, "Just reached Jorhat, Assam, for a two-day visit to the Northeast. I will participate in the land transfer ceremony between the Assam Rifles and the Government of Mizoram, along with the inauguration of the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Assam and a review of the implementation of three new criminal laws in the northeastern states."
"I will also meet with our youth in the Bodoland Territorial Region at the 57th Annual Conference of the All Bodo Students Union. I am enthusiastic about participating in these activities," he added.
Following his visit to Jorhat, Union Minister Shah went to Dergaon in the Golaghat district, where he stayed overnight at the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy.
On Saturday morning, he is slated to officially open the state-of-the-art police academy, marking a significant enhancement to Assam's law enforcement infrastructure.
After the inauguration, Union Minister Shah will head to Mizoram to attend a ceremony concerning the relocation of the Assam Rifles from Aizawl to Zokhawsang, located around 15 km from the state capital. This adjustment is anticipated to improve the operational capacity of the Assam Rifles in the area.
Upon his return to Assam, he will rest overnight at the state guest house in Koinadhara.
On Sunday, the Union Minister is scheduled to address the 57th Annual Conference of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) in Dotma, Kokrajhar district.
The ABSU, which signed the historic Bodo Peace Accord five years ago, organizes this conference to discuss education, youth development, and the Mission Quality Education Movement-2030.
The event will include sports competitions, literary contests, and cultural evenings to promote community involvement and progress.
On Sunday, Union Minister Shah will also attend a meeting with all Chief Ministers of the northeastern states to discuss the implementation of various laws under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Each state will present its updates to the Union Home Minister on this topic.
HM Shah will also engage with the Chief Ministers regarding the law and order situation in each northeastern state.
