At the end of this pivotal conference, a significant initiative was introduced for the Director of Prosecution, aimed at improving the efficiency of the investigation and prosecution processes.
During a media briefing, Chief Minister Sarma highlighted the noteworthy accomplishments of Assam Police during the conference, including the dismantling of an ivory smuggling gang along the Assam-Bhutan border, significant progress in breaking drug trafficking networks, neutralizing a major rhino poaching gang across 11 districts, exposing a fake SIM card racket in Morigaon, apprehending a cyber fraud syndicate in Sonitpur, and dismantling a large counterfeit currency operation, among others.
These initiatives reflect the commitment of the Assam Police and serve as models for replication throughout the state’s districts.
The conference reiterated the government's dedication to fostering a safer Assam, rooted in integrity, driven by technology, and empowered by the residents of the state.
The Sarma-led state government has placed significant emphasis on creating a more dedicated and professional Assam Police.
As part of this commitment, the state government has periodically organized conferences for the SPs.
The inaugural SPs' conference took place in Kaziranga on June 9, 2021, shortly after CM Sarma took office.
Among those present were Chief Secretary Ravi Kota, DGP Harmeet Singh, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister K.K. Dwivedi, and other senior state officials.
