Is Assam Training 700 Goa Police Recruits a Step Towards National Integration?

Guwahati, Aug 12 (NationPress) Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Goa has become the second state, following Manipur, to send police officers for training at the Lachit Borphukan Police Academy in Dergaon, referring to this partnership as a manifestation of national integration.

Sarma, alongside Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, was present at the graduation ceremony for 700 recruits from the Goa Police's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd India Reserve Battalions.

The recruits underwent extensive training at the academy, which Sarma characterized as a centre of excellence for preparing law enforcement officials to meet contemporary policing challenges.

“This is a moment of immense pride as we enhance our training capabilities to prepare the upcoming generation of security personnel to serve our nation with dignity,” Sarma stated, emphasizing that Assam is willing to extend its resources to support this vital national endeavor.

Goa's Chief Minister Sawant expressed his gratitude to Sarma and the Assam government for facilitating this training, noting that the experience would bolster the professional skills of the Goa Police.

“At the request of the Goa government, the Assam Police Academy has trained 700 personnel from the Goa Police. Other states seeking training should consider this facility. Such initiatives are essential for realizing the vision of Developed India 2047,” he remarked.

In a post shared on X, Sawant congratulated the recruits, declaring it “a proud moment for the Goa Police.”

He commended the Lachit Borphukan Police Academy as a state-of-the-art establishment and highlighted that this collaboration embodies the true essence of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.

The Lachit Borphukan Police Academy, named after the legendary 17th-century Ahom general, has recently established itself as a key center for police training in the Northeast and beyond.

It has previously welcomed recruits from Manipur and is increasingly recognized as a national-level institution capable of training law enforcement personnel from across India.
