New Delhi, April 5 (NationPress) To foster collaboration on the execution of the Budget 2025-26 initiatives, the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) hosted a webinar that united inspiring Lakhpati Didis and representatives from State Rural Livelihood Missions (SRLMs), an official reported on Saturday.
Participants exchanged insights and strategies aimed at empowering more self-help group (SHG) women to attain financial independence and success, the official mentioned.
The discussions focused on four essential pillars of rural prosperity: Infrastructure, finance, marketing, and skill development, as stated by the official.
Secretary Shailesh Kumar Singh highlighted the significance of state partnerships in promoting the rural prosperity and resilience programme.
T. K. Anil Kumar, Additional Secretary of MoRD, outlined the interaction framework, paving the way for productive discussions that took place on Friday.
In line with its mission to empower rural women, MoRD also introduced the Entrepreneurship Planning Digital Tool (EPDT), aimed at aiding aspiring Lakhpati Didis in developing robust business plans, according to the statement.
Created by LoKOS, the tool simplifies data entry for SHG members, monitors entrepreneurial progress, and provides necessary guidance, making it an essential resource for nurturing entrepreneurship.
Moreover, a toll-free helpline — 0120-5202521 — was launched to assist women with inquiries related to becoming Lakhpati Didis. The helpline operates Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (excluding national holidays), aiming to deliver timely and effective assistance.
The Ministry is executing the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY – NRLM) nationwide (excluding Delhi and Chandigarh) with the goal of organizing rural poor women households into Self Help Groups (SHGs), continuously nurturing and supporting them until they achieve a significant income increase over time, enhancing their quality of life and lifting them out of extreme poverty.
As of February 28, 2025, the Mission is active in 7,144 blocks across 745 districts in 28 States and six UTs. To date, 10.05 crore rural women households have been mobilized into over 90.90 lakh SHGs.
A total of Rs 51,368.39 crore in capitalization support (Revolving Funds and Community Investment Funds) has been allocated to SHGs and their federations.
Since FY 2013-14, women SHGs have accessed Rs 10.20 lakh crore in bank credit under DAY-NRLM, according to official data.
