Patna, Nov 29 (NationPress) Karnaveer Singh Yadav, also known as Lallu Mukhiya, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) representing the Barh Assembly constituency near Patna, turned himself in at the Barh civil court this Saturday.
He had been on the run in connection with a 2023 murder case, prompting police to carry out ongoing raids in their effort to apprehend him.
During the Assembly elections, the Supreme Court had granted him temporary protection from arrest, allowing him to evade capture.
Recently, police even seized his residence during their search operations.
After the Supreme Court denied his bail application and with the relief period having lapsed, Lallu Mukhiya made the decision to surrender.
Upon the court's directive, he was taken into custody and, following nearly six hours of legal proceedings, was placed in Barh jail under judicial custody.
Lallu Mukhiya is the primary suspect in a murder case that surfaced in 2023 and had eluded law enforcement ever since.
Although he had received temporary immunity from arrest while contesting elections, both the Supreme Court and subsequently the High Court dismissed his bail requests, leaving him with no alternative but to surrender.
A well-known figure in the local political landscape of Barh and Mokama, Lallu Mukhiya was once considered a close associate of the influential Anant Singh.
He has consistently accused Munger MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh, known as Lalan Singh, of fabricating politically driven charges against him.
With his surrender, law enforcement and the judiciary are anticipated to progress to the next steps in the murder case.
The Barh and Mokama regions drew significant attention during the recently concluded Bihar Assembly Election 2025, particularly due to the high-profile Dularchand Yadav murder case.
Dularchand Yadav was reportedly killed by a vehicle during the election campaign of JDU candidate Bahubali Anant Singh and Jan Suraaj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi.
He was vocally supporting the Jan Suraaj candidate, and tensions flared between the two factions on October 30, the day of the altercation.
Following the incident, unidentified individuals vandalized the vehicle of the RJD candidate in the Barh Assembly constituency on October 31, further heightening the political unrest in the region.
Currently, Anant Singh is incarcerated in Patna’s Beur Central Jail in relation to the Dularchand Yadav murder case.
